CLASSIFICATIONS
HOW WORKS ARE DEFINED
Randolph Loude Atelier uses four primary classifications.
Each classification is represented by a distinct Certificate of Authenticity & Provenance.
ORIGINAL RELEASE
WHITE
An Original Release represents the initial formal issuance of an Atelier work.
This establishes the work’s original identity within the Randolph Loude system.
Example:
RLA26OR001
OR identifies the work as an Original Release.
The White Certificate represents the work at its original Atelier issuance.
AUTHORIZED REISSUE
YELLOW
An Authorized Reissue is a new Atelier-authorized issuance derived from an existing work.
It is not treated as an undocumented reproduction or conventional restock.
Authorized Reissues are produced as predetermined editions. Edition information is recorded separately on the corresponding certificate.
Where applicable, the originating serial receives:
-RE
Example:
RLA26OR001-RE
The root identifies the work from which the reissue originates.
The suffix identifies its relationship to that lineage.
Its edition is recorded separately:
07 / 25
Once a predetermined reissue edition is completed, that particular edition is closed.
ARCHIVE
BLACK
Archive identifies a work subsequently documented or issued through the Randolph Loude Atelier Archive.
Entering Archive does not erase the manner in which the work originally entered the Atelier.
Instead, Archive becomes part of its history.
Where applicable:
-A
is appended to the existing serial.
Example:
RLA26OR001-A
A commissioned work entering Archive could similarly become:
RLA26CM001-A
The root remains intact.
COMMISSIONED
RED
Commissioned identifies a work originating through an individual commission accepted and executed through Randolph Loude Atelier.
Example:
RLA26CM001
CM records the commissioned origin of the work.
A commissioned work remains historically identifiable as commissioned even if its ownership or subsequent Atelier status changes.
THE COLOR SYSTEM
WHITE — ORIGINAL RELEASE
YELLOW — AUTHORIZED REISSUE
BLACK — ARCHIVE
RED — COMMISSIONED
Color functions as an immediate visual classification within the Atelier documentation system.
